In the middle of a great debate and controversy regarding the possibility of building casinos in England and therefore increasing the gambling offer in the country, it was announced this week that the English government would finally be willing to give the green light and permit the construction of big gambling centers.
Gordon Brown, England’s Prime Minister, has always showed interest in reaching a solution to the conflict over the advantages and disadvantages that the construction of gambling centers will carry. Since the beginning, it seemed that getting the approval would be almost impossible due to the lack of consensus at the Parliament and the opposition of certain sectors of the English society.
Finally, it was announced this week that the building of mega-casinos would be approved in some cities of the English territory. Specifically, 16 gambling rooms will be sold in a bid; half of them will be of small scale while the rest will occupy a large area.
On the other hand, it is still uncertain what will happen to the project for the construction of a big gambling center in the city of Manchester since, even though local operators say that the approval of the project will mean a revitalization of the region, specially on the East part, rumors indicate that the project will be rejected.
