This week Holland Casino received the international award “Socially Responsible Operator of the Year” granted by the gaming industry. Johan van Kastel, Security and Risk Control Vice President, attended the Gaming Awards 2008 celebrated in London on behalf of the casino. The other nominees were Harrah’s Entertainment, Opera House Casino and Groupe Partouche.
“We are very proud to receive this international acknowledgment,” Holland Casino’s spokesman Dick Flink said. “Holland Casino has adopted the Responsible Gaming Policy as part of its strategy, with the aim to put the organization ‘in the center of society’, visible to the whole world.”
Flink also commented that the Responsible Gaming Policy is a perfect example of how Holland Casino fulfills it social responsibility. “Even more important,” he added, “the last national survey about gambling addictions shows that there has been a 12 percent decrease of problem gamblers. It seems that the measures we took had a positive impact.”
The first Holland Casino opened its doors in 1975 following the decision of the Dutch government to issue the only casino license in the Netherlands. Currently, the company has fifteen venues across the country and plans to open five more in new locations.
